“Spatlese” simply means “Late Harvest.” Spatlese wines can be bone dry to very sweet. This Riesling Spatlese is what the Germans like to call fruity or slightly sweet. Since the grapes are harvest later, the flavors are more intense and riper than the St. Gabriel Riesling QbA. This Riesling has rich, flavors of green apples, peaches, pears, limes and passion fruit. The mouth-feel is fuller and more intense with excellent texture and weight.
Pairs well with salads, chicken, spicy dishes or fruit.
Riesling
The grapes are from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region of Germany. The steep south facing slopes and stony slate soils are ideal growing conditions for Riesling. Due to the steep slopes the vines are trained up 8 foot high wooden stakes and are harvested by hand.
