About the Artist
Salvatore Principe was born in 1959 of Italian heritage and raised in Manhattan where the brutal collides with the beautiful. Salvatore found himself inspired by the juxtaposition and diversity. While influenced by the pop culture of the 70`s. Salvatore was inspired to paint hearts after his mother passed. To him, the heart is an extension of her unyielding support of him in his quest to be an artist. It goes hand in hand with his ideal of spreading love, goodwill and positive energy throughout the world.
For the past twenty-five years Salvatore`s quest has not wavered: A steadfast dedication to enriching peoples lives through his deeply abounding, expressive and affecting art. His work reflects a depth of emotion blind to racial division or language barrier. It is about the spirit of life, celebrated through human emotion. In kind, Salvatore is continually donating pieces for charitable auction raising in excess of $300,000 in the past 5 years alone.
With his art always current and influencing what`s chic and modern, Salvatore Principe`s talent has graced the walls of numerous New York City culturally relevant institutions, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman and The Trump Towers. Salvatore`s pieces have exhibited in galleries and art events around the globe: nationally from Manhattan`s SoHo to Miami`s South Beach and overseas from Bulgaria to Japan.
Salvatore has been professionally influenced by the works of Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Robert Raucshenberg, Willem De Kooning and Jackson Pollack. Owners of Salvatore`s original works include Nicole Miller, Jennifer Capriati, Adam Sandler, Tony Bennett, Dr. Phil, Cameron Diaz, Donald Trump, Chris Evert, Gwen Stefani, Andy Roddick, Lisa Dekooning, Patti Labelle and the late Miles Davis.
The three hearts you will find on this first installment of the Artist’s Collection are: ‘Paris”, ‘Dayle’, and ‘Madrid’, inspired by the people and places in his life. As each vintage changes, so will the Hearts.
Characteristics
This Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the essence of Salvatore’s work. It is complex and beautifully crafted. Grown in a soil mixture of sand and stone in the foothills of Andes, the grapes are sourced from the highest commercial vineyards in the world. At over 1,700 meters above sea level, altitude plays an instrumental role in the development of the grapes. The warm, strong sunlit days followed by cool nights favor a slow maturation process allowing full development of flavors, acids and tannins. The grapes are hand harvested from low yielding vines creating a wine that is rich in color showcasing dark plum and cherry flavors accented by layers of chocolate. Twelve months of oak aging adds character and tantalizing tannins. Pair with your favorite pasta dish or grilled meats.
