Casa La Joya Gran Reserves Gran Reserves are just that: reserved for "grand" occasions. Experience the true essence of the best Chile has to offer in these wines from Colchagua, the Napa Valley of Chile. Characteristics & Food Pairings Chardonnay: Round and velvety, expressing tropical fruit acidity offset by rich butter and vanilla. A great pairing for fish, white meats and cheeses. Carmenére: "This is a saturated, earthy, berry-packed version of Carmenére. The palete is ripe with a ton of spunky berry fruit wrapped in a nice coating of smooth oak."-Wine Enthusiast Very flexible wine that can be paired with Pasta’s or lighter style meats such as Pork or Lamb Chops. Merlot: Purple-hued, offering cherry and vanilla flavors with terroir-characteristic hints of spice and mint. It is superb with barbeque and grilled meats. Cabernet: Full-bodied, with intense ruby color and embodying flavors of ripe berries and hints of chocolate and vanilla. Matches with a variety of hearty red meat dishes and blue cheeses. Late Harvest Gewurztraminer: Golden shades of yellow. On the nose intense fruit with a hint of rose. The palate has notes of orange, quince jelly and vanilla with pleasant acidity Pairs well with crème Brule or blue cheese like Gorgonzola Wine Growing Conditions Gran Reserve wines benefit from the richness hewn from a maximum aging of 12 months in barrel. All Gran Reserve grapes were sowed in the Regiones Vitivinicolas (RV) of Rapel, in the famed Colchagua Valley. Hugging the shores of the Tinguiririca River, Colchagua is a unique, horseshoe shaped transverse valley that runs east and west, linking the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The grapes enjoy an ideal microclimate here, of sun-scorched days tempered by tepid breezes blowing directionally east through the valley from the Pacific. Grapes thrive especially well in these areas of deep, loamy soil and warm, dry climate.
