Kishu Ume (Japanese Plum) Wine is hand-crafted by the Heiwa Shuzou Brewery in Wakayama Prefecture, the premium coastline valley area of Japan for growing Nanko-Ume or Japanese Plums. The family owned Heiwa Shuzou Brewery was found in 1928 in the “Muryousan Chougannji” temple. During unstable social conditions the brewery was closed for several years until the current family owners petitioned the government to re-open the brewing operations. After repeated petitions, Heiwa meaning “peace” and Shuzou “brewing” reopened and has become one of Japan’s leading breweries.
